My interest in sports and exercise started early at the National Ballet Academy, where I trained as a dancer from the age of 11 to 20. This was a challenging course, both physically and mentally.
During the training I turned out to have a scoliosis, or a curvature in my spine. The pain this caused made me wonder if I could keep dancing. Rehabilitation training in the form of Pilates classes allowed me to strengthen my core, improve my posture and continue to pursue my passion.
In 2006 I was hired as a dancer at the International Dance Theater in Amsterdam. Here I have been able to dance many beautiful pieces in theaters in the Netherlands. After my dance career, I was determined to continue using my knowledge and experience in health and exercise. It was inevitable that others could benefit from Pilates as much as I did.
